Who are your experts?
Our team includes GIA-certified gemologists, horologists, handbag pricing specialists and home and art curators with experience from the largest brands and auction houses. Their combined 200 years of experience gives them the unique ability to assess your luxury accessories, jewelry and watches, taking into account gemology, material value and marketplace demand. We provide transparent education about the market value of your items.

How is the value of my pieces determined?
Our goal is to sell your items at the highest possible price within the first 30 days. We apply our pricing algorithm according to designer, item type, age and condition. We have sold millions of items representing over 750 designers, giving us the ability to optimally price your items for sale.
What should I expect at my appointment?
Curbside Drop-Off: Simply arrive at your appointment time and a concierge will assist you. You do not need to bring anything other than your items, and you will be provided with an email receipt for the items you drop off.
In-Person Drop-Off: When you arrive, a member of our consignment team will greet you to assist you with your items. You do not need to bring anything other than your items, and you will be provided with an email receipt for the items you drop off.
Virtual Expert Valuation: We will send you a confirmation and give you the opportunity to upload photos of your items in advance. At the time of your appointment, we will call you at the number provided via video conference. Our expert will discuss the potential market value pieces of your pieces, provide price estimates, and answer any questions you may have about the consigning process at The RealReal. You can request to mail in your pieces, free of charge, to receive an official valuation document, with no pressure to consign. If you do choose to consign, we will arrange for free UPS pickup of your items.
In-Person Expert Valuation: When you arrive, you will meet with one of our experts as well as a Luxury Manager in a private valuation room. As our expert inspects your pieces, our Luxury Manager can answer questions you may have about the consigning process and the company. The expert will review the market value of your pieces and you will have the option to consign. Security is on the premises at all times. When scheduling your appointment, please let us know if you have any special requests.
What’s the difference between consigning, trading and selling my items?
When you consign, you receive payment by check, direct deposit or site credit (+5%) when your item sells. Consigning will earn you the highest commission rate, but you only receive payment once items sell. When you trade your items, you will receive payment upfront (within two weeks) in the form of The RealReal site credit. When you sell your items, you will receive payment upfront (within two weeks) by direct deposit.
I already know I want to consign and don't need to speak with an expert. How can I do that?
There are several ways to consign. You can schedule a virtual consignment appointment to speak via video with a Luxury Manager who can help you sell your items. Or, if you are near one of our stores or Luxury Consignment Offices, you can schedule a time to drop off your items, either inside or at our curbside concierge. Get started here.
What is The RealReal’s payment commission structure?
Our commission structure is based on our consignor loyalty program: RealReal Rewards. With RealReal Rewards, the more you consign the more you earn and the more benefits you receive. Commission rates are based on net sales during a one-year commission window, along with exceptions for item commission rates. Item commission rates allow you to earn more for in-demand, high-value pieces. Lower-value items with less demand have lower commission rates.
